FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I am new to Yoga and not sure what to expect.

First thing's first, at some point, everyone attended their first yoga class and weren't sure what to expect. My best advice is to give it a good old fashion college try. Attend at least 10 classes before you decide it's not for you and try all types of classes, as yoga is a very broad term. When you arrive at the studio, if it's your very first class, try to come at least 10 minutes early. This way the teacher can walk you through what to expect from class and answer any pre-class questions you might have. This is also a great opportunity to let the teacher know of any injuries you might be carrying so the teacher can offer you modifications. When you get dressed for class be mindful that your clothing is not distracting, what I mean by that is, you won't be fixing your shirt, your underwear, pulling up your pants or constantly redoing your hair during class. All of these movements are very distracting and pulls you away from the focus of the class. Once you get to the studio please remove your shoes and walk them over to the shoe mats. Normally, the teacher will have their mat setup lengthwise at the front of the class, you should set your mat up perpendicular to the teachers, there will be little stickers for where the middle of the top of your mat should go. During class, please listen to your body, take breaks when you need to and listen for cues from the teacher to modify. A great resting pose is child's pose (knees wide, feet together, arms extended forward and sink your chest towards the ground) you are permitted to take this posture at any point during class. You may be in class next to someone super bendy, keep in mind this person has likely been practicing yoga for many years or is a beginner themselves and grew up being a dancer or gymnast. Everyone has a starting point. Lastly, I truly believe yoga is for every body, I also truly believe you should only do what brings you joy, everything can't be for everyone, don't beat yourself up if you hate it.. after trying 10 classes.

Can I Leave Class Early or Show up late?

Ideally, you stay for the entirety of the class. The teacher has created a class with a specific beginning, middle and end. By showing up late or arriving early you might be left feeling uneven. With that being said, I do understand we live in a culture of busy and if being 5 minutes late or leaving 5 minutes early helps you make it to class then by all means please attend. If you know you will be a) arriving late or b) leaving early please let the teacher know so they can a) leave an easily accessible spot open for you or b) let you know when to take a closing pose so you can be out of class on time.

Can I book a private class?

Absolutely! Follow the link here

Do I have to Pre-register?

Yes! Head over the Book Now tab, you will then be taken to an outside booking class where you can register for your classes. The class portal closes 90 minutes prior to class so be sure to sign up before then or email info.harvestyoga@gmail.com to let us know you are coming!

What time Should i arrive to class?

Please arrive at least 5 minutes before class begins to get yourself settled. The studio will always be open 20 minutes before class if you wish to come earlier to ask questions, meditate or warm up before class.

what should i bring to class

Bring a mat and an open mind. Harvest is currently not renting out mats but we do have other props, blocks, bolsters and straps for use. If you have any props of your own you would like to bring from home then by all means do!

Can I pause my class pass membership?

The short answer is no. The class passes are designed to be flexible and allow for you to attend 3 classes one week and 0 the next, depending on your schedule. Each class pass does have an expiry date to encourage you to use the pass in a timely manner. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns and we can likely work something out!
